Recent breakthroughs in probabilistic constellation shaping have brought us close to the Shannon limit in optical channels.  Coherent signal processing adds add another degree of freedom to signal encoding, previously unattainable because of the extreme signal processing speed required.  Our research breaks barriers across a broad swath of high speed and economical communications.
