Nokia Fixed Access Network Solution using Lightspan

Course number: FN00203
Course duration: 4 days
Price: €3,200

Course overview

This 4-day course targets network operators, designers, and architects responsible for the fixed access network solution used to deliver customer services to home and business subscribers over a fixed access FTTH/FTTx network. This course provides details on how Nokia’s SDAN solution is used to provide, manage and configure value added services to subscribers in their home or business.

Students learn to use the Altiplano Access Controller to provision and monitor the health of the Lightspan MF, FX, and SX product portfolio of Optical Line Termination (OLT) and Optical Network Termination Unit (ONT) products and upgrade the devices to a target software release.

Students learn the Nokia products used in the business or home network and the basic function of ONT devices, Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), and Residential gateways (RGs).  Students learn how Lightspan devices deliver services to subscribers. Students learn how QoS is implemented on Lightspan products and how to customize the QoS implementation using intents and profiles to meet the requirements of the service provider network.

Hands-on labs allow students to use the Altiplano Access Controller to configure Lightspan OLTs and ONTs, HSI and IPTV services, device syslog, packet capture, NTP, and create custom speed profiles. Students use the Altiplano Software Management application to upgrade an OLT. Students troubleshoot problems using the Altiplano Alarm Manager, Network Views and the License and Debug Application.

Course objectives

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • Describe the boards and interfaces supported by MF/FX/SX Lightspan OLTs and DPUs, how these devices connect to the Altiplano SDAN controller and provide a resilient datapath between network services and the home subscriber
  • Describe Altiplano's role in managing devices in the home network, and how Altiplano provides a flexible policy framework used to provision and manage many different types of ONT/ONU
  • Use the Altiplano IBN Application to:
    • Deploy and verify operation of a Lightspan device
    • Provision and manage an ONT as a L2 Bridge or a Residential Gateway
    • Provide HSI and IPTV services to a subscriber
  • Use the Altiplano Software Management application to upgrade Lightspan products and ONTs
  • Use the Altiplano Profile Manager to create profiles managing syslog, NTP, and speed tiers
  • Describe how QoS is implemented and configured using intents and policies on a Lightspan device
  • Troubleshoot problems using Altiplano Alarm Manager, IBN, and Network Views
  • Use protocol tracing and packet capture
  • Outline key troubleshooting capabilities that come with the License and Debug Application (LDA)
