We report the first single-channel subcarrier-based optical transmission of 1 Gb/s data over 1 km of standard 62.5 micron-core graded-index multimode fiber.

The ability to produce a high-performance monolithic CMOS photoreceiver, including the photodetector, could enable greater use of optics in short-distance communication systems.

We have demonstrated homodyne detection of 1 Gb/s pilot-carrier BPSK optical signals using phaselocked 1.5microns external-cavity semiconductor lasers.

We have demonstrated zero-IF DPSK coherent optical detection at 1 Gb/s without the use of multiple receivers and special optical couplers.

This paper presents the use and benefits of Design for Assemby (DFA) and computer simulation techniques in the design process of a new 1 kVA uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

This paper focuses on the application of a 1 Mb/s Ethernet LAN (i.e. IEEE 802.3 1BASE5) for SONET intra-site DCC message distribution.

We demonstrate six-channel, 160-Gb/s WDM transmission over twenty 100-km spans of non-zero-dispersion fiber, with a spectral efficiency of 0.53 b/s/Hz.

A 1 Tb/s option is demonstrated with commercially available transmitter components. A 40Gb/s GaAs I/Q modulator product has been applied at 43 Gbd symbolrate and PM-16QAM modulation.

We report for the first time a 1 Tb/s transmission over a single core fiber, by using 10 spatial modes, namely the two polarization modes of 5 distinct spatial modes.

1 Tb/s of total capacity optical networking with 4 A/D nodes based on 100 GHz spaced channels modulated with 40 Gb/s by using the integrated wavelength Add/Drop device is demonstrated.
